ISRAEL : Logra el "Tomate Gota ", el mas chico del mundo....pero de increíble buen sabor

The Tipa (drop) tomato is smaller than a shekel, an Israeli coin.

Israel.- Go big or go home? When it comes to creating the world's next craze in produce, at least one company is thinking small. Very, very small.

The "drop" tomato – no bigger than a blueberry – debuted recently from Kedma, an agricultural company in Israel. And they've got a feeling this tiny fruit is going to be a big hit.

The tomato, which comes in red and yellow varieties, will be presented at a three-day agricultural fair in Israel later this month.

And aside from its fun size, Tel Aviv chef Shaul Ben Aderet, who participated in a taste test of the fruit, says it's also packed with flavor. He even called it "sexy," which is certainly the first time we've ever heard that word used to describe a tomato.

"It’s very simple, it’s clean, it’s nice, it’s sexy,” Ben Aderet told the Associated Press. "They would say the tomato is a candy, that’s for sure.”

Shaul Ben Aderet owns three restaurants in Tel Aviv.

The push to make tomato strands taste better – sweeter, more snackable and many times smaller – is nothing new for Israel's agriculture industry. Kedma, for its part, said that their new tomato has a sweeter taste than anything else available.

“At this stage, we are growing the little tomato in red and yellow, we will consider expanding to additional colors according to demand,” said Dubi Dagay, a farmer at Kedma.
