The amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) transits the Caribbean Sea.

CARIBBEAN SEA .- The amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) transits the Caribbean Sea. Kearsarge is assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.



OKINAWA, Japan .- Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) prepare to disembark the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) at White Beach Naval Facility in Okinawa, Japan. The 31st MEU completed Talisman Saber, Amphibious Integration Training and a certification exercise during a deployment with the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group. Ashland is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
