Costa Mesa, Cali.- A few days after voluntarily closing La Revolucion in response to a fatal accident on a similar ride in Ohio, Knott’s Berry Farm was cleared to re-open the thrill ride to guests on Wednesday, Aug. 2. G Force, a similar attraction at the OC Fair, remains closed, as fair officials wait to hear back from the manufacturer, KMG, said Terry Moore, director of communications for the OC Fair & Event Center.

There is no timetable for the ride’s re-opening, Moore said Wednesday afternoon. Last week, six California attractions resembling the Fire Ball ride in Ohio that malfunctioned and sent riders into the air – killing one – were shut down for inspection.

Workers stand at the G Force ride at the OC Fair in Costa Mesa, California, on Thursday, July 27, 2017. The ride, similar to a one in Ohio that killed an 18-year old man, has been shut down as a precaution.

The attractions spin and swing riders in the air. Ride manufacturers and California Division of Occupational Safety and Health officials were to test the attractions and review maintenance records and other safety procedures before giving the clearance to operate again. The G Force ride has thrilled OC Fair patrons for several years without incident, Moore said.
