Plasma donation center to open in Douglas A CSL Plasma center will open at former The Rack location, mid-August in Douglas. CSL Plasma Inc. will open a new donation center in Douglas this summer, at a location that previously housed The Rack furniture store, 101 11th Street. 

 According to Mary Coates, Internal Communications, US Plasma Operations, CSL Plasma is actively hiring and will need to fill between 30 and 40 positions. Coates mentioned that as the center grows, there could be up to 70 job positions filled.

 Current job openings are listed as Medical Staff; Associate (RN, LPS, Paramedic), Phlebotomist, Processing Technician, Reception Technician, and Quality Specialist. CSL Plasma is one of the world’s largest collectors of human plasma; a straw-colored liquid that carries the red and white blood cells, and platelets. 

 Plasma is made up of about 90 percent water, proteins and clotting factors, and small amounts of salts, glucose (blood sugar), and lipids. It contains proteins and antibodies that are produced by the immune system to fight diseases.

 At the center eligible adults will be able to donate their plasma and be compensated up to $400 per month. Any adult in good health, who weighs at least 110 lbs, has had no tattoos or piercings within the last 12 months, meets eligibility and screening requirements, has valid identification and a permanent address is eligible to donate.
