Desert Bloom Releaf Center Cannabis Dispensary in Tucson

Tucson.- A burglar stole thousands of dollars worth of medical marijuana from a dispensary’s cultivation site. Desert Bloom Re-Leaf Center grows and processes its products in a South Side warehouse. On May 2 it was burglarized around 1 a.m. Aari Ruben is Desert Bloom’s director.

He is offering $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. “We didn't make it easy for them,” he said. “We have security equipment, surveillance equipment. We were able to capture pictures of him. He was required to use mechanical tools to cut through sheet metal and steel bars. It was not an easy job.” Ruben said the burglar appears to have used a rotary saw to cut through the outside air conditioning ducts. Steel bars were inside the ducts in case somebody broke in.

The person cut through the steel bars also. “The individual responsible did seem to be aware of what products were more desirable, had value inherent in them,” Ruben said, “and were perhaps more salable in the black market.” Some of the oils were still being chemically processed. Ruben said they are not safe for consumption. But they would have turned into important treatment. “Some of these people are children, and they direly need their regular medication,” Ruben said. “And we're going to have a difficult time to meet our time tables to provide that to them in the near future.”
